Hi, any tips on where to get PPL-A these day in Johor or in KL? I have saved up enough to fly already but heard clubs in Johor are not there anymore. Also interested in PPL-H but wrote to the school in Ipoh, can't recall is a white guy that allows you to take PPL-H DCA or PPL FAA, also got no reply. Any tips please share. |

Hi
You can contact Ashley Nicholas, his email address is ashley@lloydhelicopters.com regards to Helicopter flying (FAA) and they have a chopper stationed either in Subang or Seletar(SIN) for demo flights.
For PPL fixed-wing training, you can email to Royal Selangor Flying Club or Republic of Singapore Flying Club (use any search stations) for more advices.

Hi,
For most Singaporean, learning PPL has always been possible in many of the flying clubs in Senai Johore. However, recently regulations from Malaysia DCA has make it difficult for foreigners to learn flying in Malaysia.
The Clubs are no longer allowed to accept foreigners and those that have existing SPL are a one time extension to allow the SPL to complete their training.
If you can afford the time, you might want to sign up PPL training full time with the Malaysian flight schools, however do note that they have lots of students waiting to get their training done and cost fees might be high. Alternatively, you might want to consider going to the US (FAA), Australia (CASA) to get the it done. If you get to fly everyday, it is possible to complete the whole course within a short period of time.
Other than that, signing up with one of the Singapore Flying Club can be an option.
regards

xmas, no reply from the lyold. Are you sure they are training school? They seems to be selling or leasing helicopter.
Yeah, heard about the recent DCA regulation tightening, the only club standing is Johor Flying Club now but they do not do training. Any one knows what happens to the other 2 clubs in Senai? |

Hi
I just correspond with Ashley thru email 10 minutes ago; try again, he will respond to you. Lloyd Helicopter can also advice you how to get your Helicopter PPL in more details and has a R44 Robinson for demo flight, so you can have a 'feel' flying her.
Since you are a Malaysian, there is no problem for you to join any flying clubs in Malaysia, in fact, KL itself has a number of flying clubs. The only setback is in Johor side. Just be patience, and hope things back in place soon.

I have a query here.
A foreign flight instructor rating (say, a Malaysian nationality) but with less than 500 instructional hours, can he allow to teach in flying club (in Malaysia)?
Kindly don't advise to call DCA. |

Get a PPL from a club then switch to a flying school. This way is much much faster! |
