Flight School Closure in Johor?

Topics: 9   Posts: 22

I heard all the flight schools in Johor were grounded?

Is this true?  If so, what's up?

Hope all flight students at these schools are able to find other ways to satisfy their aviation thirst!

There is only ONE flight school in Johor! That is KLIFA!

Don't tell me KLIFA can't be allowed to fly planes?

There are a few flying clubs in johor that provide instruction to PPL standards, since they provide an instructional or learning experience, people loosely call them as "schools"

In my humble opinion, the flying clubs in Johor provide a means for ordinary people like me, to experince the thrill of flight. During my training, i met people from all walks of life - but we all share a common passion for aviation.

No doubt flying itself is a relatively expensive endeavour for most of us, but i think many people would agree that the rates in Johor are one of the most comeptitve within the region. Such that it is within reach for you and i.

It would be truly sad if the flying clubs are all forced to close down, due to improper implementation of policies. But I am in no position to judge, I just hope that a positive outcome can be found, so that the people who truly love aviation, can continue to have an avenue to develop their passion.

School is school, club is club. School and club big difference leh.

Clubsi nowadays cannot train non-Malaysians anymore!. SUPER troublesome to get clearance.

The flying clubs there, I think they can't survive long.

DCA is too strict.

I am going to be in SIN on Monday - any chance someone will share a plane with me ?  I would like to add Seletar to my log book and maybe do an instrument approach or just quick tour of the Island.

I have a FAA IR so an N registered aircraft would be good.

Yup...there are N registered planes in Seletar and Johor. However, nowadays, getting fewer.

It is freaking expensive to fly a plane in registered. You're asking somebody to share cost? But how?You sit on the left hand seat to fly and the person on the right hand seat does nothing but pay half to you for flying?!

I am afraid your plan won't work.  Nobody will agree your plan by sharing. Unless, a rich fellow or a CFII is sitting beside you.

Hi Mic

You can contract Mr.Darshan Singh at +65-6483-1573 Seletar Flying Club to join as Day or Visitor membership, the club has an N registered C172N (N5748E).

There are a number of 'N' regsitered airaraft in Seletar but they are all owners' aircraft and all of them are WOA members too.

Well, the easiest way is to join Seletar Flying Club for a day or so, where you can clock your hours on the left seat, fly around the SIN training areas or fly-out of SIN form Seletar.

FYI: Since you are holding FAA License and planning to fly the 'N' registered aircraft, you need not validate your license with the SIN authority CAAS.

Happy flying:)

The poster, mmdent, his intention is to do 'instrument approach'. His key words are 'instrument flying'.

No.1. That means, it must be IFR certified 'N' regsisterd airplane. So, what there are N registered airplane whereby 'if' none are certified.

No.2. That Singh cannot do Instrument flying on 'N' regsisterd airplane. He is not proficiency lah!

No.3. I heard about his reputation. That Singh only looks at money and colour of hair.

Still, we shall welcome him to burn his money. He will be shocked for the amount of money he pays for flying in Singapore!

Weekends ago, I drove into Seletar East Camp Road, to the hangers' area, I saw an N registered DA40 callsign N217; with logo bearing Discovery Flying Club and SIM; as I drove further towards RSFC office, I discovered the Discovery Flying Club office is beside the SIA flying College.

Is this a new flying club established for public or restricted to SIM usage? anyone can enlightened me?

I can tell you! That club is for flight introductory program for local university student.

The owner of WOA is involved. He will tell you more if you approach him nicely.

Many thx for the tips, I will try out the N reg 172 - sounds perfect.

I am not too bothered about the Instrument approach - that would just be a bit of a bonus as I have to do 1 a month on average to maintain my currency.

As for flying for only half price - no I wasn't expecting that.  I may be Scots - but I do expect to pay my way !!
