Apologies for mis-quote by Straits Times Newspaper in Singapore

Topics: 29   Posts: 38
Dear friends,

WOA would like to apologize and correct a few mis-quotes on some information published in the Straits Times newspaper today in Singapore. WOA didn't have a chance to proof read what they wanted to print hence we would like to clarify the mis-quotes here to avoid mis-understandings.

1) Article mentioned it takes an hour from Hatyai to Don Muang Airport in Bangkok. That is incorrect and in a typical single engine plane, it should be approx 3.5 hours.

2) Article mentioned we flew to Don Muang airport was destination and we flew back to Singapore right after dinner. That is INcorrect.

Correct version is:  We flew to Thai Flying Club at Bang Phra airfield to meet friends, had dinner and stayed the night there.

3) The article said Meng is a proud owner of a Diamond Star DA40 bought in Australia four years ago is incorrect.
Correct version is: Meng is a proud owner of a second hand Piper Warrior bought from Australia four years ago and he regularly flies a Diamond DA40 owned by a new flying club - Discovery Flying Club which Meng helped set up and manage.

We apologize for any embarassment caused to the private flying community and our fellow pilots friends due to the errors.

Meng

I think the GA community is matured enough to understand that misquotes by ST is common, especially when written by non-pilots....heck, they even skewed the comments about foreign pilots flying in Msia, so nothing new here....no worries, Meng, we support you and what you have been doing so far for the GA community here in Sg.
