First Flight (รักสยามเท่าฟ้า)

FIRST FLIGHT (รักสยามเท่าฟ้า) - Siam was the first country in Asia to have a flying program
Visit: www.firstflightmovie.com

The film "Rak Siam Tao Fah" will be released in Thai theaters on 31 Jan 2008. This adventure drama is about the early days of aviation in the Kingdom of Siam - first country in Asia to have an aviation program. It about the meeting of two cultures "East meets West" before World War I, when the airplanes were made out of wood, and the pilots were made out of iron. It is a film about believing in the power of your dream and it is based on fact that Siam sent over 70 pilots with their Expeditionary Forces to support the allies in France during World War I. The film uses real aerials over pristine forests, mountains and rivers in Thailand.

Looming shortage of Aviation Personnel

With the booming economies of India, China and other Asian nations, there is a growing shortage of pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and other aviation personnel.  Until recently, US pilots were required to retire at age 60.  Many of these pilots were then hired by foreign carriers to supplement their ranks with experienced pilots.  Now with the recent extension of the pilot retirement age to 65, this source of qualified pilots has dried up.  With the growth of new airlines in developing countries, the other job categories are hurting as well.
