Who is WingsOverAsia (WOA)?

WingsOverAsia (WOA) is Asia's first aviation social network platform and aviation concierge service for private aircraft owners, pilots and enthusiasts.

WingsOverAsia (WOA) is reputed to have a hardworking and dynamic team with well-rounded work-life experiences. We employ a grassroots approach to service, execute our operations and projects with enterprise-like processes and professional mindset to provide customer-centric aviation services for long term sustainability. Every individual in our team is specially selected to possess not only the necessary professional skill-set; but also a genuine desire to contribute to general aviation coupled with a well-liked and amicable personality proven via social interactions within the WOA fraternity.

Our History & Milestones

2003

WOA started as a online blog by founder Meng to publish and share GA grassroot activities all over Asia. Through his regular business travels around Asia as a business consultant, he passionately explores every corner of Asia to meet private aviators and check out flying destinations.

2004

WOA transforms into an online community portal frequented by aviator members from all over Asia.

Jan2006

Granted land lease by Khazanah Nasional Berhad's subsidary in Johor, Malaysia to operate one of Malaysia's first sports aviation airpark concept on 3 acres of land in Bandar Nusajaya, Malaysia.

Dec2006

First in Asia to break general aviation convention by owning and operating a Piper PA28-161 Warrior aircraft retrofitted with revolutionary Centurion Jet-A fuel driven piston engine.

2007

WOA redefines itself online with cutting edge technology as a aviation social media platform, a first in the private aviation world!

Aug2009

WOA incorporates as an private entity, WingsOverAsia Pte Ltd, to provide professional private aviation services.
- Asia's first comprehensive private aviation concierge was launched under the brand name ClubWOA!
- WOA's professionally organized flying tours begins to various South-East Asia destinations
- Pilot proficiency workshops, seminars and social networking events begins

Nov2009

WOA co-founds and provides operational management and administrative support for Singapore's first new generation flying club concept (Discovery Flying Club) with modern glass cockpit piston aircrafts, helps design flight experience program for UniSIM.

Feb2010

WOA organizes the inaugural Asia Aviators Gathering attended by aviators from more than 9 Asian countries.

Sep2010

WOA management pilots help complete local airworthiness certification for 13 aircrafts, conducts aircraft familiarization, implement 1xFTD with CAE Tropos Visual and in-house developed an interactive computer-based training cum e-learning software for Singapore Youth Flying Club, Singapore's largest ab-initio flight training organization managed by the Singapore Air Force.

Nov2010

WOA begins flight support operations in Seletar Airfield, Singapore for resident private aircraft owners; innovates airport parking with the design and implementation of compact parking concepts in collaboration with Changi Airport Group and CAAS, a first in Singapore !

Mar2011

WOA becomes 1st company in Asia to develop in-house and conduct a Garmin G1000 scenario-based glass cockpit training for operators of piston, turbo-prop and jet aircrafts equipped with G1000 integrated avionics.

Apr2011

Opens Thailand country office, with concierge services based out of Bangkok City and an exclusive ClubWOA lounge with flight related operations based at Best Ocean Airpark, amidst a 18-hole golf-course with private villas.

Jun2011

WOA management pilots becomes the 1st born-and-bred Singaporeans to pilot a "standard equipped (no ferry tanks and no de-ice) single-engine piston light aircraft" across the Atlantic from San Francisco, USA to Singapore; part of an aircraft delivery service for ClubWOA member.

Aug2011

Opens ClubWOA members' only lounge in Seletar Airfield, Singapore next to the airport terminal with full on-demand concierge services. First order of the day was to invite our Malaysian aircraft owner friends over for a cross-straits friendship lunch.

WOA makes history in Thailand general aviation as the first to successfully organize Customs/Immigration/Quanrantine (CIQ) services on-demand at a private airfield facilitating first port-of-entry processes for foreign aircrafts and crew!

Yeow Meng, Managing Director (English, Mandarin speaking, Certified PMP, FAA CPL/IR CFII/MEI, MY/TH/AU PPL)
A project management, technology and business consultant with multi-national corporations clients globally, Meng is an active general aviation pilot for 10+ years with commercial and flight instructor license and enjoys aerobatics and seaplanes. He pioneered Asia’s first aviation social network and has since been actively involved in supporting the promotion of general aviation across Asia. He now combines his electrical engineering and technology know-how, corporate management and aviation services experience to spearhead WOA's social network.

Sivakumar S, Program and Training Director (English, Tamil, Malay, Mandarin speaking, CAAC/CAAS ATPL, FAA CFII/MEI)
Sivakumar is a professional airline and air transport pilot with many years of General Aviation experience including charter operations and flight instruction. Having progressed over the years from light aircrafts to commercial heavy jet; Siva's heart and passion remains with GA and actively participates and supports GA activities including light sports aircrafts. He contributes his wealth of knowledge and flght operations experience to manage WOA's various pilot proficiency programs and events.

Joseph Gotuaco, Chief Financial Officer (English, Thai, Filipino, Mandarin speaking)
With a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, Joey began his career in banking in 1986 in New York, where he worked as a fixed income trader and risk manager. Between 1994 and 2002, he worked at J.P. Morgan in capital markets, equity and credit private placements, and liability management transactions for sovereign and corporate clients. Joey first came to Asia in 1994, and was initially posted in Hong Kong, with client responsibilities in the Philippines and Indonesia. He stayed in Asia to work with Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch. Most recently, Joey served as a Managing Director and Partner of Imprimis until 2011. While at Imprimis, he founded Piper Capital, an aviation financing company.

Jules Julasak, Thailand Operations Director (English, Thai, French speaking)
A successful Thai entrepreneur in the F&B industry, Jules' fascination for flying literally flows in his blood. Jules' late grandfather was the Thailand agent in the 50s-60s for Lockheed, McDonell Douglas, Grumman as well as the GSA for Pan-Am in the Far East. His father flew De Havilland Chipmunks while in the Army. His own first ever flying lesson was in 1991 in a Robinson R22, he has since progressed to fixed wing and owned a Mooney and Robinson R44. He fuels his passion as our Thai operations director based in Bangkok.

Jane Chong, Executive Assistant & Special Projects (English, Mandarin speaking)
Meet the girl behind the scenes. Jane support the executive team on special projects as well as ensuring our exclusive ClubWOA network's flight concierge operations and administrative paperwork are well coordinated. With customer service and administrative experience in logistics and healthcare industries, Jane was inspired by WOA team's commitment and passion for flying and decided to join the fraternity.

Jesusa Villanueva, Administrative & Membership Executive (English, Tagalog speaking)
As the administrative executive of WingsOverAsia, Jess ensures all our office and membership administrative paperwork are well prepared. With operational experience in logistics and F&B industries, Jess's previous experience as a manufacturing process improvement expert will help WOA achieve efficiency and productivity.

Karen Chu, Sales and Marketing Executive (English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghainese speaking)
Karen support WingsOverAsia's Sales and Marketing operations regionally. Karen has lived in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. Previously a flight attendant with one of the world's leading airline, she is experienced in customer service and travel management, and will take care of your travel-related and luxury needs. Karen also ensure the consistency delivery of ClubWOA's member and concierge service. She loves jetting around the world and believes that nothing is impossible.

Shibu Titus, Interactive Media Project Manager (English, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi speaking)
Though Shibu did his Mechanical engineering, he chose to follow his childhood passion for Art and Animation and chose a career in the same field. He has more than 7 years experience in the field of E-Learning playing the roles from Animator to Production manager. Working on aircraft training materials is doing justice to both his education and passion.

Mod Naris, Flight Ops and Concierge Support Executive (Thai and English speaking)
Growing up with a Royal Thai Air Force wing commander dad, Narit had his first flight experience on the C-47 Dakota as a small child helping soldiers make artificial rain. That lead him to a career in the air force's flight-line operations and thereafter in a helicopter company. Mod, now a student pilot, joined WOA for his love of being around airplanes, his love for flying and a family-like working environment. With his professional experience, Mod coordinate WOA's Thailand flight operations, concierge logistics and aircraft handling for ClubWOA members.

John Giddens, Strategic Business Development Advisor (English, French speaking)
Born in a family with an aviation tradition, John's father was a Royal Air force pilot for 35 years and his grandfather a pilot from the First World War. As CEO at the helm of Hallin Marine, John spent a career in Marine and Underwater operations before his aviation interest was rekindled when he moved into Seletar in Singapore with his family. Since gaining his pilot license in Singapore, John's enthusiasm and passion propelled his flying pursuits from piston to turboprop aircraft ownership fulfilling both business travels and exploring adventurous destinations. An active and significant contributor to GA initiatives, John regularly shares his wealth of knowledge on flying with the Asia GA community.

Anthony Khoo, Strategic Marketing & Client Relations Advisor (English, Mandarin speaking)
It's no surprise that Anthony Khoo is the Chief Client Officer at Y&R, he is one genuinely warm and convivial personality, with tremendous potential for a 2nd job as a stand-up comedian. Not only is he a mentor and advisor to the WOA core team, he is also internally voted the chief entertainment officer for all special projects. This quote from him says it best, “Flying is the ultimate release, and the most Zen experience you can have… without being vegetarian!”

Gregory Ang, Media, Advertising & TV Programming Advisor (English, Mandarin speaking)
A veteran in Broadcast, TV, PR and Advertising, Greg is the managing director of Singapore’s only company in the business of assisting entertainment companies develop, launch, market and manage channel operations throughout the Asia Pacific region. Since becoming a private pilot and aircraft owner, Greg's is notorious within the WOA community for his infectious and passionate speak for private flying and being a walking encyclopedia on GA aircraft statistics.

Markus Walter, Flight Ambassador & Aerial Display Technical Crew (English, German, Swiss speaking)
The chief operating officer of a multi-national production facility, Markus is a long time resident in Asia with an addiction to flying. He has won awards in aerobatic competitions and is well known in the SE Asia flying community for his aerial displays at GA events. A seasoned private aviator actively flying in Asia for more than 15 years, he is WOA's flight ambassador, an inspiration to many pilots wanna-be.

Andreas Horntrich, Flight Ambassador & Aerial Display Technical Crew (English, German, Austrian speaking)
Andi arrived in Asia more than 15 years ago as an engineer, he is now a successful entreprenuer running a global crane services company based in Singapore. Throughout the hectic years, he remained devoted to flying. A prior glider pilot, Andi picked up his private pilot license upon arrival in Asia and since then, can be regularly found over the skies honing his aerobatic skills whenever he can sneak a few flying hours off his busy schedule. He helps WOA infect enthusiasts with the flying bug!

Les Vorosmarthy, Flight Ambassador & Aerial Display Technical Crew (English, Hungarian speaking)
Les is originally from Hungary and is the CEO of a medical device manufacturer. He is now based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and regularly flies air-shows to help WOA promote and spread the awareness of the art-form of aerobatic flying. He is actually a former member of the Hungarian Aerobatic team. He is a unlimited pilot and has represented his country at the World Aerobatic Championship. In 1996, he was California Sportsman Point Series Champion.

Bee Chu Diong, Editorial Writer (English, Mandarin, Japanese speaking)
Diong (as she likes to be call herself) is a logistics professional in real life on the ground in Singapore. The rest of the time, she is on Cloud9, either literally, flying with likeminded friends; or mentally, planning and plotting to make the next trip happen! To her, the hard-earned Private Pilot’s License signified the beginning of many more epic flying adventures to come!

Edwin Lim, Editorial Writer (English, Mandarin speaking)
Edwin Lim is a journalist by training but chose to indulge his love for aviation by working in the aviation industry. Passionate about flying and all things aviation since childhood, he took his first flight in a Piper Tomahawk in Western Australia. More than 8 years and two continents later, Edwin counts his crowning achievement as finally being awarded his Private Pilot's Licence!

Venkatnarayan B, Computer-aided Instruction Designer (English, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi speaking)
A creative developer, he is a man with varied interests, who loves Trance, New Age and Classical music. He is also a solo traveler and an adventure lover. Even though an IT person his passion is flying. He spends most of his free time flying Microsoft Flight simulator, reading about airplanes and spotting planes. Venkat has around 4 years of experience in Creative Development. "Airplanes are flying beauties, I love watching them"

Hubert Trunzer (English, German, Thai speaking), Base: Thailand
After a lifetime of professional engineering experience in global projects, Hubert eventually succumbed to his lifelong aviation passion and started his own aviation services company based in Thailand where he now resides. A glider pilot since childhood, Hubert re-kindled his love for flying more than 10 years ago as the first foreigner to complete a Thai private pilot license course locally. Since then, he has actively flown around Asia and has been long time contributor to WOA's projects since WOA's inception.

Rod Leonard (English speaking), Base: Australia
Rod learned to fly after leaving high school in April 1967. After obtaining his PPL, he worked on his family sugarcane farm for years before managing a loan to pursue a CPL in 1974. Thereafter, a fruitless attempt to get a full-time flying job drove him to apply for and received his Air Operator’s Certificate on 7th Dec 1974. And off he headed, to set the charter world on fire! Since then, he progressed through several aircrafts type and has flown charters all over northern Australia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and SE Asia; clocking over 13000 hours.

Jose Mari C. Roa (English, Filipino/Tagalog speaking), Base: Philippines
Capt Jose Mari C. Roa is an experienced pilot and aviation enthusiast from the Philippines. Mr Roa regularly contribute articles on activities in Philippines as well as adventurous personal stories from his own flying ranging from light twins to jets to twin turbine helicopters. Mr Roa owns Asian Air Safari, a company which pioneered aerial advertising to the Philippines and is also an accomplished air tour, flight charter and GA services provider in the region.

Chepy R. Nasution (Bahasa Indonesia, English speaking), Base: Indonesia
Pak Chepy learnt flying since 1979, enjoying flying adventures and has flown almost to all ASEAN Countries as well as Australia and New Zealand. He actively organizes Sport Flying Events in Indonesia such as Air Rally Jakarta - Lombok Air Rally 1996, Bandung Aero Sport Show 1997, Bali Buleleng Fly-In 2001, Pekanbaru Aerosport Show 2004 and Bali Buleleng Fly-In 2006.
